Wellington City Council ZM Run Swim Series

Wellington City Council's ZM Run Swim Series has been a fixture on the Wellington summer calendar for a couple of years.

It has been a great success – the event won the New Zealand Recreation Association's Outstanding Project Award in 2005.

The goal of the event is simple: to get more Wellington women more active throughout the year.

The series was also used as a mechanism for increasing attendance at Wellington's aquatic facilities and programmes.

This report (reproduced with permission of Wellington City Council) tells you more about the series and also presents a summary of research undertaken by Wellington City Council that shows that participation in the series has meant a long-term change in physical activity behaviour for a significant number of women.
