Shane Reed

Triathlete Shane Reed has earned the nickname “Snuffie” because of an apparent resemblance to Sesame Street’s “Mr Snuffleupagus”, but Shane is no muppet in the world of triathlons.

Shane manages to juggle training, studying graphic design, and spending time with his wife Tammy and young son Lucas, while consistently ranking among the top ten male triathletes on the international circuit.

Even as a school boy, Shane was committed to being the best in the world, swimming before school and running in the evenings – always with support from his family.

Competing internationally since 1997, Shane has had his fair share of wins, but the big ones have eluded him so far. Now with the Beijing Olympics in sight, his eyes are on the podium.
